The Research Centre for Toxic Compounds in the Environment is a department of the Faculty of Science, Masaryk University, that is providing research, development, education and expertise in the field of the environmental pollution ( The Centre was established in the frame of the CETOCOEN project funded by the Operational Programme "Research and Development for Inovations" ( as a Regional centre for applied research.

There is a concurrently ongoing project RECETOX EDUCATION ( funded also by the Operational Programme "Education for Competitiveness". The objective of this project is to innovate the interdisciplinary education of environmental sciences and to incorporate the issue of sustainable development into the education at Faculty of Science, Masaryk University; this will provide a complementary development of the research and a transfer of knowledge within various disciplines.

The Research Centre has a wide experience with lots of research projects and activities oriented at the professional growth of specialists in the area of environmental contamination and its impacts on the ecosystems.


The Education for Competitiveness Operational Programme (ECOP) is a multi-annual thematic programme controlled by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic (MEYS), within which it is possible to draw finances from the European Social Fund (ESF), one of the structural funds of the European Union (EU), in the programming period 2007-2013... more info
